CASE STUDY

SUMMARY

The team at JETEC has carefully reviewed the impact of Videojet’s discontinuance of Excel Series printers and fluids and has determined several solutions by which JETEC customers can minimize potential impact to their part marking process while meeting military marking requirements (Mil-Std 202, 883, A-A-208, etc.), ASTM E595 outgas and individual customer specifications (Boeing 5307, Lockheed EMAPS, Bell Helicopter, etc.). Using our 35+ years of part marking knowledge we are pleased to offer viable alternatives and recommendations.

PROBLEM STATEMENT

On 9/03/2021 Videojet announced that they will no longer be supporting their legacy Excel Series ink jet printers effective 10/29/2021. Then on 9/12/2024 they announced discontinuation of many of the Excel Series inks used in critical industries effective 10/31/2025. These actions have caused Videojet and JETEC customers, in particular, to evaluate alternative actions to keep their part marking processes operative, without hinderance, based on this Videojet obsolescence information.

THE CHALLENGE

There are several scenarios that a Videojet / JETEC customer may be facing depending on their AS-IS inkjet part marking process. Some include:

  • Customer must use obsolete Excel printer and fluids due to end customer mandate.

  • Customer must use obsolete VJ fluids but is open to changing the Excel printer.

  • Customer is using the 36-micron Excel HR printer to print small characters, is open to changing the ink but cannot use an 11% larger, 40-micron printer replacement.

  • Customer is willing to change both the fluids and printer.

  • Customer seeks to use the existing VJ fluids, until no longer obtainable, but desires a printer solution that can use both the present and future fluids.

  • Customer is dissatisfied with VJ fluids and VJ printers and desires an alternative featuring both a printer and fluids.

Your situation may be one or more of the above scenarios. JETEC has a solution for each one. Contact sales@jetec.com for assistance.
